TAKEN TO MILK
Paris is gradually becoming a city of milk drinkers, according to figures made public by the French State Railways: While the consumption' of milk is increasing, that of wino is decreasing. During 1931 350,000,000 litres of milk were consumed by the inhabitants of the French capital, this being an advance of 5 per cent, over the previous year. Each Parisian consumes about "0 litres of milk each year; ten years ago the figures were 60. To piotect the milk supply pf Paris and to prevent its contamination, strict regulations are enforced by the Prefecture of the Seine. The milk is brought to Paris in special railroad cars, and is sterilised mechanically before being offered for sale.
