LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

KELBURN MEETING

The Kelburn branch of the League of Mothers held its annual jneeting, when a thoroughly enjoyable and happy afternoon was spent by a large gathering of members. The president, Mrs. B. L. Dallard, was in the chair. The hall, which was well heated, was beautifully decorated by Mesdames McPhee and Steele. Tho annual report showed a year o£ live interest and enthusiastic

work, tho membership being larger and the attendance at meetings the highest average yet recorded. Many new members joined during tho year. The bal-ance-sheet showed the highly satisfactory state of the finances of the branch. Tho report added: "We are proud to belong to an organisation wnich is so representative of our Dominion, with 43J9 members (650 being new members this year), whose power and influence is so far-reaching." The election of officers for the year was held, with the following result:—President, Mrs. B. L. Dallard; t vice-presidents, Mesdames Inglis, F. Mac Lean, and G. A. Troup; hon. secretary, Mrs. Chas. McPhce; hon. treasurer, Mrs. H. Buddie; committee, Mesdames Briggs, R. Tait, Upham, Forgie, Price, Fyfe, Steele, Burdekin, Priestly, Widdop, Sewell, Haddon, Hindle, Kirk, Melnnes, and G. Thompson. Votes of thanks were passed to the speakers and performers who made the year's meetings so successful; to the Presbyterian Church for the use of |.the school hall; retiring members of committee, and conveners of sub-com-mittees. A delightful programme of music followed, Misses Ormi Reid and Elvira Wycherly (piano and 'cello) contributed "Caprice" (Moskowski) and "Le Cygne" (Saint Saens), which were greatly enjoyed. Mr. D. L. Irwiu artistically rendered "I Love Thee" (Greig) and "Amethyst and Amber" (Carse). Recitations were given by Miss Vivicnne Tait ("The Pedlar") and Miss Jean Dallard ("Temper in October"). An appreciative voto of thanks was given to all the performers. Afternoon tea was enlivened by an original competition arranged by Mrs. R. Tait and one by Mrs. Hall and Mrs. Upham.
