A moderate anti-cyclone, which was covering the Tasman Sea on Saturday crossed Sew Zealand on Sunday, with its centre to the north. Except for some isolated showers in the western districts the weather was fine generally on both days, and temperatures were milder yesterday than they had been for some time, the winds having by then changed' to northerly. During Sunday night, however, shallow depressions crossed both the North and South Islands! The Northern one brought heavy rain ' Jn the night or this morning to places in the northernmost districts, and some scattered light falls to other parts of the North Island, while the southern one was accompanied by only a few -isolated falls in south Westland and Foveaux Strait. This morning it was rainingin the far north and south, but elsewhere conditions were still mainly fine with light to moderate variable winds.
