GARDEN PLOTS

LISTS BEING MADE

A j;ood deal was done at the meeting of the executive committee on Friday dealing with the garden allotment scheme for growing vegetables. The chairman (Mr. P. S. Pope) reported on the supplies of seed aad manure for relief workers who are cultivating plots, and it was decided not to hand out the standard packets of lettuce, silver and red beet, parsnips, carrots, turnips, swedes, and onions until there was an assurance in each case that the land was being worked. It was stated that the Labour Bureau was.preparing a-list of names of men who.wanted land .to cultivate, and that these would bo grouped according to districts. The need for the speedy preparation of the lists was stressed, in order that the position of men who did not work the land within a month could be reviewed under the No. 5 Scheme. "
