CONCERT AT MEN'S SHELTER

All the men stopping at the Wellington City Mission Men's Shelter were. treated to an evening's entertainment by a cdhcertj party organised by. Mr. Herbert F. Wood,| Every itesi was^received with applause^l arid all the artists were deservedly recall-1 ed. The. programme opened with a piano-1 forte duet by the.Misses Mason, which was1 followed by Mr. Tilling,. who gave two I songs. Miss Tait's . humorous recitations' were most popular. Mr. Wood himself i was at his very best in three songs, "Take! a Pair.of Sparkling Eyes/' "Funiculi| l'unicula," and "Charmaine." Mr. Norrnaa Aitken gave, a number of his humorous? ■recitations. Mrs. Ray Kemp's songs were deservedly encored, and M:i\ Kemp was also in fine voice. Mr. Mason sang three songs which were enthusiastically receiv-i ed. Mr. Jones ended a most enjoyable i programme by rendering "The Lost Chord"!' on his cornet. Miss. Mason accompanied all the singers. The evening's entertain* ment for the men ended, with a short com. munity sing, conducted by Mr. Mason and Mr. Wood, and the Einging of "Auld Lang Syne" ended an excellent programme. The manager of the shelter expressed his gratew ful thanks to all the artists.-
