RAW MATERIALS PRICES.

CUSTOMS RETURNS

LONDON, 30th July. Friday's closing prices for the following raw materials were as follows, those for I 22nd July being given'in parentheses:— Cotton.—Liverpool quotations, American -middling, spot, 4.67d per lb (4.56d); September delivery^ 4.52d per lb (4.52d). Rubber.—Para, 3 7-8d per lb (unchanged); plantation smoked ribbed sheet. 2 3-32d per lb (1 15-16d). Jute.—August-September"shijupent, £ 15 7s. 6d per ton (£14.13s 9d).

Copra.—July-August shipment, South Sea, £13 15s' per ton (£ 13 7s 6d); plantation. Eabaul, £13 17s 6d per ton (£l3 10s).

Linseed oil, £15 per.ton (£l4 15s). Turpentine; 60a_3dj>er, cwt (unchanged)

JULY COLLECTIONS

Customs duties additional to Wellington collections, as published on Saturday are returned from other centres as follows: —

Duties collected July totalled £155,220, as against £121,595 in July, 1931.

New Plymouth.—Customs revenue, £36,509; an increase on the previous year has beeu shown in every mouth except February. Petrol tax, decreased from £26,000 to £22,000. Christchureh.—Customs returns for July totalled £60,705 (last July £60,734); beer duty, £5934 (£4883); motor spirit tax, £14,223 (£20,495); tire duty, £576 (£1171). •

. Dunedin.—The returns, with those for July of last year in parentheses, are as follows:—Customs, £49,395 15s 4d (£57,238 8s sd); beei% £13,525 14s 5d (£10,335 4s 2d); petrol, £11,283 15s 6d (£14,039 ss); tires, £549 19s (£1079 Is).-
