THE WINTER CHILD VISITS THE KING

(Original, by Tanitchica, aged fifteen, of Miramar.) He sits in the midst of our Ring to-night, ■ His eyes are deep blue and are shining bright; His: curls are golden and dance in the breeze, ' And his laughter echoes among the trees. '

The wintry blossoms he shakes around, -.. They dance in the breeze, then fall to the.ground; He laughs, and a silvery laugh has he, • And it echoes afar and over the lea.

Although he brings cruel frost and snow, He is loved by all of us, that I know, For he is so sweet, and gentle, and mild, Thai we welcome with laughter the Winter Child.
