MORE MEMBERS WANTED

Since the fire in the Returned Soldiers' Association's building in Brandon street, the association has transferred ■to the former premises of the Commercial Travellers' Club in Victoria street, and at a meeting of the executive this week the new quarters were the subject of much favourable comment. '

A considerable amount of business, much of which was of a confidential nature, was done at the meeting. It was announced that arrangements were in hand •to send ten children each month for-, two months to the Otaki Health Camp, and that £.20 was being provided for clothing. The Eev. W. Bramwell Scott was elected as the association's representative on tha Touth Unemployment Council. Dr. Mcßae was appointed to represent the association on the Children's Health .Camp' Society, providing a representative is asked for, and Colonel Cowles was appointed to succeed Mr. J. Spence as the representative on the Bed Cross Society. Several members of the executive offered to act as visitors to returned soldiers in hospital and other institutions.

It was decided to thank the manager of the British Electric Co., Mr. H. E. Taylor, for his presentation of a framed picture of the Cenotaph. . . In a discussion on the matter of a driy o. ■ for ..increased .membership reference was made to the action being taken in this direction at Johnsonville, Kh.andallah, and Ngaio, and to the special meeting to be held at Eastbourne on 4th August. Colonel* Cowles and MeQuarrie, and Messrs. Hewitt and Tilling, with Captain Marshall as convenor, _were appointed a committee to deal with the membership campaign. Dr. Mcßae reported on his visit to the returned soldiers' single men's camp and to the Children's Health Camp, stating that ho was well satisfied with the arrangements made in, both cases.'
