The Auckland Zoological Society and the Auckland City Council may find it •difficult to put their, proposal into effect on ' account of the. legal position. Inquiries made by a "Post 1' reporter to-day' showed that it. is illegal "to hold in captivity native birds 'covered by the Animals Protection and Gaßie Act, 1921-22, unless the special consent of the Minister of Internal Affairs is obtained. Such permission is granted in verjr jaie eaaea.
