Advice was received at the New Zealand Rugby Union's Management Committee on; Wednesday that the Canterbury Rugby Union had received challenges for the Ranfurly Shield from the South Canterbury, Auckland, West Coast, Buller, and Waikato unions. A date had also been allocated to North Auckland; The following dates had .been set down for the matches:—l3th August, v. South Canterbury; 20th August, v. Auckland; 27th August, v. West Coast; 3rd September, v. Wellington; 10th'September, v. Buller; 17th September, v. Waikato; ■ 24th September, v. North Aucklandi .-.■-,.. , The West: Coast and-Buller challenges had been accepted provisionally,' and Canterbury had offered to pay the reasonable expenses of the teams' visits, with a maximum o£ ,£95 and £100 respectyely. Waikato and North Auckland were being asked. ;the amounts ■ they;. desired toward their teams'.'expenses. .The Wellington Union advised that it desired its match with Canterbury on the 3rd September, to be -a* Ranfurly Shield challenge' match; ,: ■ ■ '•-/• The Canterbury Rugby Union forwarded a cheque for £564 155,/being-theinet takings, of the match .between the North arid South Islands, played at" Christchurch on the 4th' June.
