DANCE PARTIES COLLIDE

1 Two parties of young people, who were on their way to the Wellington 1. College Old Boys' dance- on 12th Marchof this year, commenced their evening with some unanticipated excitement when their cars collided at the intersection o£ Majoribanks and Brougham streets.' Mr. E. Page, S.M., was yesterday called upon to decide' the question of liability for the accident. It wav alleged by the plaintiff, Mrs. E. M. Fraser, whose car was being driven by her eon, Linus William Murphy, that the driver, of. the other car, Miss Doria Press, had failed to keep on her proper jde of'the road; had failed, to pull up and avoid the plaintiff's.car; had passed a stationary car at the intersection, and under dangerous circumstances; and had failed to keep a proper look-out: On account of damages to her car and for the temporary loss of the use of it, she claimed £34 11s. 3d. Miss Press counter-claimed for £37 35,; alleging that Mr. Murphy had been driving at an excessive speed up. Majoribanksj street; that he had failed to keep to his correct side of the road,-and had not" kept a proper look-out; and that1 he had failed to keep as near as possible to: the left. After the evidence of a number, of witnesses, had been heard the hearing was adjourned tv enable a last witness for the defendant ,to be called.
