TRAIN DERAILED
MISHAP NEAR MARTON
EXPRESS DELAYED
Several trucks of the 'WellingtonAuckland goods traiiii which.-left Thorndon at 7.40 p.m. yesterday, were derailed at Kakariki, just south of Marton, about 2 o'clock, "this morning.' , Thecause of the derailment is not knownj but a departmental inquiry ■is being held. ; '
'As a result.of the uiishap, the two Auckland-Wellington express trains were delayed.-The,passengers and mails on both, trains were, transferred ■ from Kakariki; to, Foilding, and were, brought on to "Wellington by a special train,, which arrived/ 4 at .Thorndon at 12.30 o'clock' this afternoon.: i.These aro the only trains whicli have been or are likely to be affected; by the derailment. • ; Itwas'expected to have .the.line.clear, again by 2 o'clock', this afternoon.
