SECRETARY SENTENCED

.DUNEDIN, This-Day. William' Francis Crooke. was sentenced to three years'reformative;detention for theft of £1720 as secretary of the Grand Lodge of the Independent Order of Oddfellows. The defalcations wore in respect^ of^funeral and sick claims, and extended over two.years. Mr. Justice Kennedy took ' into consideration the fact that the accused ■was suffering from a, serious, disease.
