Mr. Byron Brown introduced Mr._W. 11. Bennett, who-presided. A musical and elocutionary programme Had been airanged for the 'entertainment of guests, and the following performers gave great pleasuro with their itoms: Misses P. Martin, L. Lancely, C. Coulm, Z. Jupp, M. Farrant, V. Pofc ter Messrs. C. Tilley, E. Glading, Soul. Beaton, Brown, and P. Fordie. Numbers by the Waiata Qnartet were much appreciated, and Misses J. Miller and K. Read entertained with novelty dances. The accompanist for the evening was Air. Norman Izett. After sup>er, dancing to excellent music continued till a late hour. Several novelty dances were introduced, including the club's popula^ Paul Jones. The Monte Carlo competition was won by Miss Read and Mr. Tilley, and the "Statue Dance" contest by Miss Turner and Mr. Willis. Mr. W. Glover was M.C. Mrs. Ashendon, convener of the dance committee, and the energetic secretary, Mr. M. Nolan, received congratulations on the great success of the ovening. Among tho numerous visitors wore: Mesdames Valentino, Stevens; Misses Turner j M. Pearee, B. Ferguson, D. Pearce, V. Flan, Woodham, Zemba, L. Bibby; and Messrs. C. Wills, Robinson, Crawshaw, M. Milne, Aldridge, Ashondeh, Walton, Warwick, W, Crooks, Turksma, Drury, French, Seantlebury, and Fjtt. Women's. National Reserve ■ A very successful, bridge and 500 evening was held at the residence of the president of the Lyall Bay branch of the Women's National Reserve (Mrs. F. Boyd). Prizes were won by Mrs. Hands and Miss Honeyfield and Messrs. Harlen and Zautuck. A delicious supper was dispensed by tho committee. Children's Party. Tho City Mission Girl Guides aie holding a children's plain and fancy dress party in aid of their funds. Miss Hazel Martin's pupils will be there to givo some dances, and there will be prizes for the bost. fancy, dress. A dainty afternoon tea will be aervod by tUe Guides. Red Cross Queen Carnival. . Another very enjoyable evening in aid of the Bed Cross Queen Carnival was hold on Thursday last.at tho residence of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Bryenton, Wellington South. The guests were entertained with dancing, cards,.billiards, and character-reading as a popular amusement. Among . those present were Mesdames Meredith, Wood, G. Bryenton, Birrcll, McGill, Mr. and Mrs. V. Butland (Hutt), Mr. and Mrs. D. Hunter, Mr. and Mrs. F. Bryenton, Mr. and Mrs. R. Brattle, Misses M. Eberlet, D. Cunningham, Meredith, E. Pike> L. Beere, M. Lachore, K. Dalziel, M. Christie, P.- Burton, J. and E. Weebor, M. Sime, J. Howard, Messrs. A. Harrington, C. Yietmeycr, C. Harkness, R. Clarke, D. Wood, J. Connor, J.
