The Women's' Institute • meeting at' Wainui-o-mata proved a very happy ono. Members gathered round a, cheerful log fire, having brought their' own work, such as knitting junipers or "cardigans, doing fancy work,'. rug-making, with much cheerful:: conversation .as they showed each other some new ideas. While the work; ■ wasi proceeding the business of tho forthcoming conference was redd and the remits: freely .discussed. An exhibition of handicrafts was held, and a vote; taken, for one article to go to tho conference.-■ Tho one. chosen^waa a bed rug mads from old felt, hats in patchwoYk;design>< very beautifully ,put. together; -and a groat credit to the maker, ..Mrs. Pederson. Arrangements: .were, also made for the institute's '^birthday party," to bo held oavly in August. ' A competition and community singing- arranged "in the programme had to •be loft out> the afternoon proving, all top short. ' The hostesses ... (Mosdames ■ Boyes, Callis, Drumtnond, and. Miss Drummond). served a dainty tea,, which., brought; a very enjoyable afternoon to a.close.
