THE NEW QUARTERS
STATISTICS FOR JUNE
At to-day's meeting of the Wellington Free Ambulance Board it was -itatcd that His Excellency the Governor-Gen-eral, Lord Bledisloe, had intimated that ho would bo pleased to lay the founda-tion-stone of tho new building in August. The board suggested Wednesday, 17th or 24th August, as suitable dates, final arrangements being left in the hands of tho executive committee.
When tin; financial statement for June came up for consideration, the chairman', Mr. G. J. B. Norwood, remarked that it was not as satisfactory as might bo wished, the expenditure being greater month by month than the receipts. It was mentioned that in the annual report the acknowledgment of two donations had been inadvertently omitted: these were Aspro, Ltd., £12, and the Biblo: and Crown .Defenders' I Orange Lodge, £ 1 Is. A lotter was received from the Town" Clerk of Upper Hutt intimating that £100 had been, placed on tho: estimates as a donation to the Free Ambulance, £50, of which would be paid forthwith, and £50 in six months' time if finances permitted. A number of other smaller donations were acknowledged. : Tho superintendent's report for June showed that during the month 507 cases had been .attended, compared with 660 (luring Juno of tho previous year. The mileage of ambulances during the month showed a corresponding decrease from G236 miles to 5395. The month's cases included 78 accidents, 420-trans-ports, and 9 office cases. Since tho Free Ambulance started operations it has attended 31,540 cases, and tho vehicles have travelled 313,848 miles.
Opportunity was taken at the close of the meeting to make tho acquaintance of and welcome- Mr. C. A. Woolley, the Superintendent of tho Fire Brigade.
