Cases at the Magistrate's Court yesterday were dealt with by Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M. -

A sentence of seven days' imprisonment was imposed on Nicol Mclntosh, a labourer, aged CO, for his fourth offence of drunkenness. .

Patrick Keenan, a labourer, aged 50, was fined £3 for using obscene language in Mulgrave street. On a further charge of drunkenness he was convicted and discharged. A remand until Friday was granted in the case of Vincent Patrick Robinson, a labourer, aged 38, who was'charged with assaulting Constable Young and using obscene language in Vivian street. He was admitted to bail on his own bond of £10 with one surety of £10.

George Thornham, a seaman, aged 39, was sentenced to one month's imprisonment'for using obscene language in Manners street. Ho was sentenced to a further term of one week's imprisonment for his sixth statutory offence of drunkenness. Thornham asked for leniency, but the Magistrate, referring to a very lengthy list of convictions against hini, said that already he had had three pages of chances. A fine of 30s was imposed on Hayward Harry §mith, a; storeman, aged 42, for easting offensive matter'in Cuba street. On a charge of drunkenness he was fined 10s.
