FOR MAYOR'S DISTRESS FUND
The benefit entertainment given in the Uineert Chamber of the Town Hall last night m aid of the Mayor's, Distress Fund and organised by the British Sailors' boeiety, proved most enjoyable. Vocal items were contributed by Miss Nora "reene, Miss Kathleen Ferris, Miss Gretta btark, Mr. and Mrs. Bay Kemp, Messrs. g. Matthews, A. Haley, J. Cooke, D Hogg, ana the "Tamariki" Maori quartet. '•Mr. and Madame de Mauny gave instrumental items. Entertainment was also provided by Messrs. W. J. Mountjoy, jun., and h. Peters. A ballet was presented by the pupils of Miss Hazel Martin, who M- a Aavncopate(i tap dance herself, and Miss Alma Longhurst gave a character dance. Miss Grace Kerr did some bright character work, and the sketch "The Invcator, was well done by Mrs. E. Kemp and Messrs. J. Cooke and D. Alexander. Ihe Commercial Travellers' Orchestra gave several items. The accompanists were Miss V era Boesley and Mr. A Stark
