He represented that the woman, and a Child who was with, her, were his wife and child, and that he wished to assist them. He was permitted.to board the vessel, but did. not-return to the shore. Ihere^is no question that the woman whom he represented to be his wife is not his wife," said the senior-sergeant. The accused, who pleaded guilty, told the Magistrate that he had been unable to get work m the South Island, and had shearing work to go to in the North Island. .
