PETONE-HUTT GAS BOARD
The monthly meeting of the Petone and Lower Hutt Gas" Lighting Board was held last night. There were present Mr! W. v. Lioader (chairman) and Messrs. W. T strand, S. Clendon, W. G. Shawl reported that on June 9,867,000 cubic feet ot gas^had been manufactured from 692 tonr 16 ewt of coal carbonised, giving an average make per ton of 14,256 cubic feet. ? S^?/,? 10"58 value of the gas *as 464 B.th.U and 239,000 cubic feet more of. it-was made than in June, 1931. -the estimated quantities of co-1, tar and coke in stock on Ist July where 1057 tons L. ' 18'? 25 Ballons. and 207 tons 12 cwt respectively. The Lower Hutt and Fetone rehef committees we« each supplied wjth 2% tons of coke in June m nrepc°#oo s officer (Mr. 0. Silbery) said that in June 11 new services, 11 cookers, 1 copper, 5 gas fires, and one hottentot were installed Thirty^ chains of 4-inch main were laid at Belmont. Tests were made in the 7 aS: t hi Waiwetu area and it was tound that the pressure was fairly evenly maintained. *
