Invitations^lssued. Invitations have been issraed by the Wellington Teelinical College Students' Association Badminton Club for a dance to. be held this month at the college. Generosity and Good Work. About 500 garments were on view at the rooms of the District Nursing Guild recently. These were the result of excellent work by the Khandallah Sick Poor Guild, the material having been generously donated by Mrs. J. .A. Plimmer. Another group of workers has been formed into a "Bee." During the month tlio sisters paid 204 visits to homes; 221 patients visited the surgery, 33 patients were admitted, 10 discharged, 48 remained on the register, eight went sent to hospital, and two died. . . A Copper TraiL A "bring and buy" stall and a copper trail at the recent meeting of the Wellington branch of the Women's Christian Temperance' Union .added to the funds. Miss Kirk, J.?., presided, and welcomed Mrs. Peryinan, the speaker. Mesdames Webb and Murray were appointed to attend a meeting of the 1.0. G.T. to arrange v celebration, for their centenary. Tea was served and an interesting competition was. held. Pioneer Club Institute Circle. . Miss Ford was the speaker for the afternoon at the recent meeting of the Pioneer Club Women's Institute Circle. There was a good attendance of members and visitors from Tawa Flat (the last place in the "Wellington.Federation to establish a branch), and from Pongaroa. Miss Foi gave, a most instructive and interesting address bearing upon the Ottawa Conference, indicating the need for the Conference, the problems which the delegates will attempt to solve, and the -estimated results. Miss Ford was, accorded a vote of thanks- for her address.; Madame E. Bligh entertained the guests with some monologues and humorous stories. Tea was served. The Race Ball. •' ; Among the' functions tieing arranged for Race Week is the Eace Ball at the Adelphl Cabaret to-morrow; evening, which promises to be a special attraction. : A new scheme of decoration arid numerous novelties will be-a feature, and a particularly .delectable supper is. being prepared.. ;As Ithere Jwilt be many visitors •to Wellington -this week, the Adelphi Cabaret will probably prove more than usually popular on the first race night. .. Staff Dance. . . '.::; ./. ,' - An atmosphere of good cheer and conviviality pervaded the Pharmacy Hall, Cambridge terrace, last evening, when the staff of MaeDuff's, Ltd^, held their annual daneo. The room, decorated in blue and gold, with quaint lighting effects, was well filled, and the function was a complete success. Several novelty dances were introduced, tho "Snowball Dance" causing no end of. merriment. Miss I. Budge and Mr. McKinney were the winners of the "Statue' Dance." Delightful music and a delectable "sit down"- supper were much enjoyed. Mr. L. Siegelwas M.C. The committee comprised Miss L. Jefferson (who, wore green georgette and lace), Miss G. An enjoyablo conclusion 'to this week's functions in connection with the Scots" College Old Boys reunion, will bo the dance arranged by the committee of the Old Boys' Association for next Friday evening at Kirkcaldie and Stains. guests, who will include many old-boys from the country, who are visiting Wellington for the reunion. Por Unemployed Boys. . A splendid. concert programme was presented last evening at the Blue Tri- ; angle Hall, which was filled with an 1 enthusiastic audience, who demanded encores for many of the items. Tho concert had been organised by Mrs. A. J. Quinton (in conjunction with the Ladies' Auxiliary of the V.M.C.A.), and was in aid of the V.M.C.A. funds, especially for needs connected with tho , assistance of unemployed boys. Under the patronage of. Mr. and Mrs. T.- C. A. Hislop, the concert was a great success. The stage was effectively decorated in black and yellow.
