HELEN WILLS-MOODY WINS
DOUBLES TO FRANCE

LONDON, Ist July. At Wimbledon in the final of . the women's singles, Mrs. Helen WillsMoody (U.S.A.)", beat Miss Helen Jacobs (U.S.A.), 6-3, 6-1.
Miss Jacobs served strongly and chopped and sliced accurately, but was worn out by Mrs. Wills-Moody's masterly placements and soon was vanquished. Mrs. Wills-Moody thus took her fifth Wimbledon title compared with Suzanne Leuglen's six. In the men's doubles semi-finals, Borotra and Brugnon (France) defeated Allison and Van Eyn (U.S.A.'), 6-3
In the mixed doubles Maier (Spain) and Miss Eyan (U.S.A.) beat Cochet and Mrs. Feariiley-WhittingstaU (England), 7-5, 3-6, 6-1. ■ ■ ■ ■ In the doubles the. Americans were erratic, while Bruguou's artistry delighted the crowd.
A tribute to the superiority of American women's tennis was that the two Helens, Mrs. Wills-Moody • and Miss Jacobs, entered the final without the loss' of a, set.
In the semi-finals of the ■ doubles, Perry and Hughes. (Britain) beat Boussus and Merlin (France), 8-6, 6-1 6-3. In the mixed doubles Hopman and Mile" Sigart beat Bruguon and Mme. Mathieu, 64, 6-4. '
In the women's doubles, Miss Evan and Miss.Jacobs beat.Mile. Pavot and Mrs. Thomas, 6-1, 6-2. Miles. Metaxa and S.gart beat Mrs. Holcroft-Watson and. Miss Harvey, 7-5, 6-2.. " • . ■ - .
