On the Stock Exchange to-day quotations for gilt-edgeds quickly responded to the. favourable news from overseas, Lausanne, the reduction in the bank rate, and the proposed conversion of British loans, and all issues of Commonwealth bonds were well supported. New records were made in some instances, notably for the 1938 issue.
