TOURIST OFFICE CLOSED THE PLUNKET SOCIETY (From Our Own Correspondent.) NELSON,. i6th June.' The Nekyxi branch of.the Government Torrist Department was closed yesterday as an economy measure. It is understood'that a local business firm will be appointed booking agents for the Department. Miss Turton, who has been in charge of the office since it was opened in 1926, has retired on superannuation, and will continue- to [reside in Nelson. The death occurred recently at Wakeneld of Mrs. A. B. (Catherine) Burnett, at the age of 79 years, removing one of the oldest pioneers of the Dovedale'district. Born in 1553 at Leire, Leicestershire, England, Mrs. Burnett, iieo Miss Ball, was one of a family who arrived by the ship Palmyra late in 1858. She was married three times and leaves 39 grandchildren.and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. S A. Warreu, of Weka street, Nelson, is tha only surviving sister. Mr. and Mrs. Burnett celebrated their golden wedding on 31st May last year. The annual meeting of the Nelson Plunket Society elected the following officers for the ensuing year:—President, Mrs. W.
