LONDON, 16th June.
A new political crisis has arisen in connection with the free port of Danzig, created under the Peace treaties, which Poland was recently reported to be making plans to seize.
It appears that the Polish destroyer Viehor, without permission, entered the harbour, where. there was already a flotilla of British destroyers.
When the Danzig Government protested, the Polish Commissioner in the city replied that the Vichor had entered the port only to salute the British warships. He added that the Polish Government did not recognise the regulation of the Government of Danzig stipulating that Polish warships must obtain, permission to enter the harbour.
The Government thereupon sent an ultimatum to the Vichor to depart that afternoon. The Vichor, however,, ia still in the harbour.
It is expected that the Senate will protest to the League of Nations.
