PLIMMERTON ROAD MAINTENANCE
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—With regard to the bridgeat Paremata, I am a .constant visitor''.totPukerua Bayand I have not seen that any of your correspondents: have referred to the fact that the last five miles of road to Plimnlertbn,.around the Pahautariui Harbour, is classed, as a secondary: highway, and costs the Highways Board and the Hutt County Counpil nearly: £1000 per annum in upkeep and' maintenance.:. This figure has bseri given\again and again as the* approximate, annual, cost iof this: road/ part of which at.times during the winter is under water. There is no excuse for continuing further with this, long deviation. What with £1000 annual maintenance, besides miles of wasted running, it is time someone took some action. In conclusion,' I should like to advise the Hutt County Council that they have the overwhelming confidence of all the ratepayers in their endeavour to arrange for this biidge.—l am, etc.,
PUKERUA BAY.
