NORTHERN. RUGBY : TOUR
CONFERENCE WITH BOARD
Keporting upon a conference with the Maori Advisory Board, Jlr. S< S. Dean, who with Mr. A. C. Kitto represented the JS Tew Zealand Rugby Union, informed the N Z.R.U. Management Committee on Wednesday that the delegation had-been given a cordial reception. The board appieciated the points raised and would as far as possible carry out the suggestions that had been made. "I think that the confetence, we had with them was quite worth while," Mr. Dean added. "It is very gratifying to know that Sir Apirana Ngata is throwing his .weight in' behind the Maori 'Advisory Board. I only hope that the tour by the Maori team will be of great assistance bbth to Maori football and to the unions to be visited by the team/
Mr. Kitto mentioned that theio had been a free and frank 'discussion, and he believed that there would now be a better undei standing between the two bodies. A report was made by Mr. Kingi Tahiwi that the team to represent the Maoris on the northern tour had been selected, and would be announced when it was ascertained whether all.the chosen players were available. Approval had been given to the playing of a second match in the North Auckland district. Several proposals were made in regard to the Prince of Wales match to be played at Palmerston North on the 9th July between Waipounamu (South Island) and Tai-Hauauru (Well-iugton-Tafanaki-Auekland 'and intermediate districts), .Waipounamu being the present: holders of: the trophy. ■ .''■; . Adopting.; the recommendation-. of 1 the Maori Advisory'"Board;' the New Zealand Union's Management - Committee' appointed Mr. Kingi Tahiwi manager' of the Maori touring team.. It. was also decided that Mr. Tom-Parata- be the referee of the Prince of "Wales; match.1 ' ' ■ '■
