CHRISTCHURCH GRIEVANCE
(By Telegraph.)
(Special to "The Evening Post.")
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The. opinion that, although their decisions arid recommendations were not recognised to any great extent, the Christchurch Citizens' Unemployment Committee was able to do good work in-other directions, was expressed by the chairman, Mr. E. H. Andrews, when asked for a statement regarding the position here. '
Mr. Andrews stated that he had heard that the Unemployment Board intended asking the local committees to disband, and in his opinion, as far as their connection -with the board was concerned,' they might as well do so. However, .when such a proposal was brought before the Christchurch- committee some weeks earlier, it had not received much support.' • • • Anothermember said: "If the Government -wants .local ; committees to help it will have to give them a certain status."
