OLD AGE PENSIONS D
A correspondent, "Old Age Pensioner," writes to, "The Post" expressing appreciationof the stand taken in the House.by Mr. J.1 Hargest, M.PI, of Invercargill, in" regard to old age pensions. Any reduction in the pension now, the correspondent claims, would jneanthat many women like herself, widowed early in married life, with a- family; to support, will be deprived of s.the homes they, have been able to secure for themselves from thenpension allowanceß. "Old Age Pensioner1-' states that at the time of her "widowhood no other assistance than'charitable aid was -forthcoming,-'and what, little savings one had went in the fight for the children, with consequent'loss of health. The pension available at. the age of ; 65 has-enabled many: women like herself to secure a little home for themselves, but with rising rates and the threat of reduction of pension, she : .states that few'old people will be able to keep a roof over their heads. Shefeels that all old age pensioners will join with . her in extending thankfulness and blessings to Mr. Hargest for. championing their cause1. - .. /. .' .-.
