What is the mysterious force whic* enables certain people to divine the presenoe of subterranean waters? ■ Interesting theories were put forward at tho Intenational Congress of Diviners at Verona, reports tho Milan correspondent of "The Times," in an attempt scientifically to interpret rabdomaney. Dr. Arnold (Switzerland) discussed the effect of radiation exercised by submarine -waters on human ,and animal health. . .. ' Dr. Beyer (Germany) said he thought the human organism acted as ■an electro-magnetic transmitting and receiving apparatus, -ascertaining tho course of hidden streams. Professor Cazzamalli (Italy) said he considered that the human brain was the source of the phenomenon. Dr. Cusu (Verona) maintained that any substance radiating electro-mag-netic energy produced muscular contractions resulting in the- movement of the divining rod.
