GAS COMPANIES' MATCH
The match over Easter between the Wellington and Christchurch companies for the Gas Companies' Challenge Shield ended in a draw, and Wellington retains the shield. Christchurch in their first innings made 145 (Wallburton 56, Chappie 22, Wise 16), and in their second innings 298 (Wallburton 160, Wise 54, Christian 19). Wellington in their first innings made 135 (Alexander'l9, Denison 16, Hawthorne 16). Wellington's second innings realised 175 for eight wickets (Mead 73 not out, Rigby 34, Cameron 26).
