A BREAD WAR
A fierce bread war -waged in Waipawa (Hawkes Bay) throughout last Thursday. The ruling price over the counter had been 6*d for the two-pouud loaf, and then one enterprising dealer advertised bread at Bid. This brought a local baker into the fray, and, delivering a bold frontal attack,.he offered his loaves at 4*d. The dealer promptly countered this by reSucing to fourpence. Towards evening an armistice was arranged, and it was reported that an agreement was reached to sell at sir pence in the future
