LEADERSHIP AND A PLAN
(To the Editor.) . Sir,—Will you kindly allow me space to compliment "Veritas" on his "letter published in to-day's "Post"? Verily, he has a right to sign himself "Veritas"; but does he realise that, our present leaders (not Commissioners) -were chosen by the people of this fair .country? And does , the result of their choosing augur well .for their intelligence in "spotting" a leader should one at any time arise? No, I am afraid he would stand a very good chance of being "missed," even if searched for! The minority vote might be the correct one, but the majority vote wins! So far, the average mind does not appear capable of discerning any outstanding ability unless accompanied by the outward and visible signs of greatness as usually acknowledged by the crowd.. Our present-day idols are jazz-players, boxers, cricketers, footballers, Phar Laps, RollsKoycers, and if anyone were plucky enough to walk on all fours from Wellington to Wanganui, why! he would be Xew Zealand's hero in a twinkling!—l am etc., EDITH SMITH.
