BOXING
JOHNS BEATS LECKIE
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
GREYMOUTH, 27th March.
Harry Johns, lightweight champion of New Zealand, last night defeated Johnny Leckie, featherweight champion, in a fifteen-round bout staged by the Greymouth Boxing Association. , The fight went the full distance and was full of . interest. Johns showed superior ringcraft, accounting for nearly every round. Leekie showed dashes of brilliancy, but failed entirely to master the tactics of his opponent, who has improved out of all knowledge since his appearance in the New Zealand championships at Greymouth in 1930.
