AUCKLAND FIRE
HOUSE A SEA OF FLAMES
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ; AUCKLAND, 23rd March. Awakened by the crackling of flames the occupants of a house at Stanley Point road escaped from their bumping homo in their night attire at the height 'of a gale last night. Practically nothing was saved.
The four occupants of the house— Mr. E. L. Cleland, the owner; a married daughter, Mrs. A. E. Cleland Pottie; Miss Doris Cleland, and Mrs. Cleland Potties seven-year-old daughter—escaped when the house was a sea of flames and had timo to take with them only a few personal effects. , Mrs. Cleland Pottie intended leaving Wellington by the Eangitiki for England to-morrow, and her luggage had already bedn sent to Wellington. sThe house was insured for £1500 in Lloyd's Office, and the contents' for £.550 in-tho Norwich Union Office.
