DISPUTE AT LAKE PLACID
LAKE PLACID (N.Y.), 6th Feb.
The trial heats of the Olympic 10,000 metres speed-skatiug championship -were declared no races after an hour's angry debate ou Friday night over the disqualifications of two Canadians, one United States, and one Japanese. Canada defeated Germany 4-1 at hotkey.
Frank Stack and Alex. Hurd (Canada), Irving Jaffee, Ed. Schroder, Valentine Bialis, and Ed. Wedge (United States), and Bernt Evensen and Ivar Ballangrud £Norway) qualified in two heats of the 10,000 metres. The final will be contested on Monday.
The heats were skated again owing to Friday's dispute. The same eight qualified. Hurd won one heat and Ba!langru<l was second. Jaffee also won a heat, witfc Stack second.
