SAMUEL'S POSITION
REPORTED CONFERENCE
LONDON, 6th February. Sir Herbert Samuel's attack on the Government's tariff policy continues to be discussed.
It is learned that a conference which ensued between Mr. Stanley Baldwin, Mr. Neville Chamberlain, and Sir Herbert Samuel, resulted in the explanation that Sir Herbert Samuel had no intention of embarking on a crusade against the policy, and would now content himself with voting against it. Probably the other Liberal Ministers will remain silent. The "Daily Telegraph's political correspondent says that the leaders are genuinely anxious not to impair national unity.
