BAPTIST WORLD ALLIANCE
Yesterday was observed as Baptist World Alliance Sunday in the Baptist Churches throughout the world, and the day -was set apart as one o£ prayer for the peace of the world for the guidance of the leaders at the Geneva Conference. The Baptists of Britain, Asia, Africa, tho Americas, Europe, and Australia and New, Zealand were united in prayer. At the Island Bay Baptist Church, last evening the preacher was the Rev. M. W. P. Lascelles, secretary of the Baptist Union of New Zealand. Speaking trom the words, "Seeing we also are compared about with so great a cloud of witnesses . . .let us run •with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus," Mr. Lascelleß referred to the progress of the Baptist denomination. He also referred to the effort of Baptist leaders in obtaining liberty of conscience in regard to religious beliefs. In further observance a public meeting will be held in. Vivian. Street Baptist Church on Thursday evening next, when the speakers will be the Rev. W. S. Rollings (New Zealand member of the Baptist World Alliance Executive), the Rev. J. J. North, D.D. Mr. F. W. Gaze (president of the New Zealand Baptist Union) will preside. __^___
