MARKETS KEEP STEADY

Butter and cheese markets at the close of business in London on Thursday were fairly steady. The Dairy Board reports a rise in the price of New Zealand butter of about Is per cwt on the week; and cheese about the same. Prices quoted ■were as follows:—

Butter.—New Zealand finest salt 100s to 102s per cwt, unsalted 110s to 114s; Danish spot 132s to 1345; compared with 121s to 124s th* week before; Australian salt 98s to 102s, a rise of Is to 2s on the week. The retail price of New Zealand butter remains unchanged at Is Id per pound, but Danish was advanced to Is 3d.

Cheese.—New Zealand white and coloured 61s to 625, and up to 63s per cwt, a rise of about 2s on the week. At 61s to 62s the price is equal, to 6d per pound f .o.b, r Canadian white and coloured sold at 68s to 70s per cwt, and Australian at 60s to 61s.
