VANCOUVEK, 7th February
An Aqua Caliente message states that because of his impressive trials it is conceded that Phar Lap will be most popular in the Aqua Caliente Handicap.
American training methods versus Australian are causing much discussion. Cloekers hero seem to think that Phar Lap was worked too hard on Thursday, when he was galloped round the track, then breezed five furlongs in Imin Bsec, then stood for fifteen minutes at the six furlongs post, and finally galloped "a mile. American trainers consider that strenuous, but those in the know hero declared that Phar Lap will be a fit horse in a few weeks, if he is not that now.
Zeke Caress, one of the head bookniakers, is of opinion that Phar Lap is one of the world's truly great racehorses.
Phar Lap is showing a "distinct liking for the Mexican climate. He makes his first public appearance to-day, taking a work-out between races in Mr. D. J. Davis's colours.
