LODGE MEETINGS

! Zealandia Lodge No. 48, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., held its fortnightly meeting last Thursday evening, Bro. F. A. Bezzant, P.G., presiding over a large attendance of members and visitors, including Bro. G. F. Rudkin, D.D.G.M., Bro. A. H. Valentine, Past Grand Master, Bro. J. G. McGregor, N.G., and oflicers and members of Southern Cross Lodge, and Bro. Haigh, Brighter Greymouth Lodge. Three members were ] reported to be still on the sick list, and relative sick pay was passed for payment. The Social Committee reported th«t a dance is to be held in March. It was decided to visit Maraenui Lodge officially at their next meeting. At the conclusion of ordinary lodge business the district "500" shield was competed for, Southern Cross Lodge proving victorious by a large margin, . The fortnightly meeting of Maraenui Lodge No. 124,. IXMD.F., N.Z., was held recently, Bro. A. Thomas, N.G., presiding over a fair attendance. Several invitations were received, and accounts passed for payment. Committees were formed for the forthcoming combined picnic, and the drawing up of a syllabus tor next year. At the close of business an enjoyable evening was spent at cards.

Bro. Frear, N.G., presided at the Loyal Antipodean Lodge, Manchester Unity, Oddfellows. An invitation was received for all P.G.s to attend the annual meeting of the Past Grands' Lodge. Bro. Frear, N.G., and Bro. Morris, V.G., were appointed to attend a meeting of lodges to consider arrangements for the year. Bro. L." Hood, Loyal Abbotsford Lodge, paid a visit to the lodge, and was accorded lodge honours, to which he suitably replied. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to all those who assisted in the successful result of the Christmas tree. After concluding business with community sing song and cards, members passed a pleasant hour.

Bro. A. J. Foote, N.G., presided over the meeting of Loyal Petone Lodge, Manchester Unity Oddfellows. A committee was set up to make arrangements to celebrate the jubilee of the lodge, which occurs during 1932. Sister K. Wilson, V.G., was appointed convenor. Various reports were received and adopted by the lodge, and on conclusion of business a pleasant hour was spent in games. At a recent meeting of the Loyal Sister Wallis Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., Sister E. Anderson, N.G., presided. Nominations were received for the office as warden. Visitors were present from a jiumber of town lodges, and received a welcome with lodge honours. It was resolved that a letter of thanks should be forwarded to Bro. A. C. Blair, P.D.G.M., and Bro. Harper for handsome donations to the lodge.

The Loyal Britannia Lodge. Manchester Unity Oddfellows, met under Bro. Stewart, N.G. Bro. Egginton, N.G. elect, having recovered from recent illness attended and was duly installed in office by Bro. J. F. O'Sullivan, P.D.C4.M. Lodge honours were accorded. Bro. Egginton replied to the honours, and expressed his thanks to members for confidence conferred on him. A report was received on the success of the Christmas tree, when about 240 children attended. A special vote of thanks was passed to all those who assisted. Regret was expressed at the death of Bro. T. G. Orsborn, the late J7.S. An expression of condolence with his relatives was carried, all members standing.
