PENNANTS POSTPONED

All bowling matches on Saturday were postponed on account of the rain. A few games were commenced in the hope that conditions would improve, but the rain became heavier and play was declared off on all groens. There are two Saturdays available for postponed pennant matches, on 19th and 26th March.

The holders of the Diamond Buckles at Hataitai, Claridge and Carswell, met a challenge from Ardell • and Woolley last week. In a close game Ardell and Woolley won on a measure ou the last head. Kershaw and Dayman are the next challengers: The Thorndori Club has completed its competition to find the rink to represent the club in the champion of champions rinks. The winning rink is: Hyams, Crawford, E. Y. Wilson, and Thomson. The singles championship will be held, .on 17th February, the pairs on 24th February, and the rinks championship on 3rd March. The secretaries and treasurers' match is to.be.played on.Wellington green on Thursday" week, and pennant rounds will be played, on 13th and 27th February.

On 20th February Seatoun, Lyall Bay, and Hataitai will be competing for the Stansell Shield, at present held by Hataitai. Lyall Bay will be the venue, two rinks from each club competing.- ■

Next Wednesday veterans' day will be held at the Wellington green, and on Thursday the Civil Service tournament will be held. One-day tournaments are to beheld at Petone oh Thursday and at Lyall Bay on Monday next. * .. The following members of the Newtown Bowling Club will take part in the veterans' match: P. A. Petersen J. H. Helliwell, W. J. Thompson, M. Smith, A. Loasby, H. Sexton, R. Blenkinson,. S. Phillips, S. Eoberts, CM Luke, and T. S. Powell.
