AWARDS FOR BRAVERY

At a meeting of delegates from various organisations in Island Bay, held in the Bowling Club Pavilion on Wednesday, 13th January, the following resolution was carried unanimously, and a slib-committee was set up to further • complete arrangements to carry out the wish of the delegates:—

'(That this meeting of representatives of various organisations of Island Bay forms itself into a committee to arrange and hold, at a convenient date and place in Island Bay, a public entertainment, at which the Royal Humane Society Js awards for bravery during the Progress wreck will be presented to those who have won them.''

This motion was carried.unanimously, and it was decided to hold the entertainment in the Masonic Hall on Thursday, 11th February, if it can be arranged for that date. Mr. Lethaby was elected chairman of delegates, Mr. Ricketts secretary, and Mr. Purcell treasurer. V
