NEW ORDINANCES
(Received sth January, 9 a.m.) CALCUTTA, -Ith January. Four new ordinances were promulgated by the Viceroy to-day, under which tho Government will havo the power to maintain law and order and arrest suspects who attempt to interfere with public safety and peace, to reenact tho old Press ordinance for the whole of India, to declare unlawful any association throughout tho country and include peaceful picketing as an offence. Under a Press ordinance newspapers nrc liable to suspension for illegal i propaganda.
It is recalled that in. the agreement reached at Delhi last year between Lord Irwin. ana Mr. Gandhi peaceful picketing is allowed. '. .
