MR. SHALLCRASS'S FUNERAL
A large and very representative gathering of citizens attended the memorial service and funeral on Wednesday afternoon of Mr. R. W. Shallcrass. A service was conducted in St. Paul's ProCathedral and later at the crematorium, Karori cemetery, by Canon Percival James.,. The chief mourners were the widow and two daughters, and Messrs. R. E.'and A. W. Shallcrass, brothers. Messrs. H. Mayer (Dominion Bowling Council), H. .A. Goodwin (Thorndou Club), J. Kershaw (treasurer of the Wellington Bowling Centre),'and W. E. Jackson (Victoria Bowling Club) were the pall-bearers. The Thorndon Bowling Club, of which Mr. Shallcrass was a member, was strongly represented, and thero were also representatives present from the other bowling clubs and other sports bodies. Among those who attended were the Hon. Dr. Collins, C.M.G., M.L.C., Dr. Morice, Messrs. R. W. Sellars (secretary New Zealand Racing Conference), H. F. Johnston, K.C., F. D. Thomson (permanent head Prime Minister's Department), J. Heenan, J. M.' Griffiths (secretary Wellington Racing Club), J. Prendeville (chairman of the Management Committee of the Wellington Rugby Union), E. N. G. Poulton, J. W. Black, G. Bothamley, W. Russell, P. Riddick, F. Campbell (chairman New Zealand Football Association Council), P. J. Kelleher (Under-Secretary Internal Affairs), C. Tringham, G. W. Barltrop, G. O. Cooper, H. D.- Bennett,. E. J. Hill, T. Coltman, S. Stone, S. Nieol, G. N. Goldie, J. Creeke, and D, Jackson. Reference to the death of Mr. R. W. Shallcrass was made at last night's meeting of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association by the president (Mr; R. \V. M'Villy). The late Mr. Shallcrass, said: Mr. M'Villy, took a keen interest in amateur athletics. A of sympathy with the relatives of the deceased was passed, members standing in silence for a few seconds.
