KILLED AT CROSSING
MOTOR-CYCLE STRUCK

CHEISTCHUECH, 7th December
Fatal injuries were received by Eric Andrew, a single man, when a motorcycle ho was riding was struck by the engine- of the inward express train at tho level crossing at Islington at 5 o'clock this .afternoon.
The deceased was employed as a chemist at tho New Zealand. Refrigerating Company's freezing works at Islington. As he wyis riding over the crossing the cow-catcher of the engine caught him and he was (lung a distance of eighteen yards. Ho was picked up unconscious and was rushed lo Ihe Christuhnrch Hospital by the tr;uu, but died lit 7 o'clock.
Tho crossing is an open oiu?, allowing a clear view of the lino, aud has a compulsory stop sigu. The deceased apparently did not sec 111(5 train or hear the whistle.
