A.; D.^Webster rushed First Acre to Melbourne this week for the Caulfield Cup, but left the rest of his team to race in Sydney at the suburban meetings. Movie Star struck himself and waa not ablo to run in the Glibborn. .Stakes- on Saturday. It was fortunate for Webster, for he . would not have beaten AVinooka, who now goes to Brisbane forthe Queensland Derby.
J. Pike has mastered Veilmoud, and it was useful and unselfish advice by M. M'Carten that prompted the change. M'Carten asked to stand down and Veilmond has now won twice for Pike, the second time (on Saturday) with 9.12. Veilmond rocs to Melbourne for the Cup meeting.. G. Price will have a team of six, the others being Carry On, Koomeela, Plying Dave, Caramba, and Old Ming. Carry On is the stable hope for the Melbourne Cup, and should be very hard to beat.
As Cypress, recovered sufficiently to travel, J. H. Jefferd returned home this week with the three-year-old. The venture was otic'of mixed fortunes/
Sydney showings suggest that Ted will take some making as a hurdler. He has not flattered his people either on the flat over here.
