THE SHIPPING STRIKE
SPREAD FROM CANBERRA
MORE VESSELS HELD UP
SYDNEY, 18th October,
The shipping striko is gradually extending. Another vessel, the Westralia, became involved at Sydney to-day when on the point of sailing with 180 passengers for Melbourne, Adelaide, and Frcmantle.
The crew complained that a consignment of- pineapples had been transhipped from, the idle steamer Canberra. This shipping officials declared to be untrue.
The passengers, extremely disgusted, disembarked. The vessel' 3 sailing has been delayed until Monday.
It. is also reported from Melbourne that • tho colliers Ashridge and Goulburn have been deserted. Both vessels have been tied up.
