KARORI CLUB

On Saturday th<s Karori Defence ttlifle Club shot over the 300 and 600 yards ranges under ideal conditions. President H. T. Marshall was in charge. The fresh breeze blowing from between 7 and 8 o'clock, although fairly steady, required watching closely and made the shooting' very interesting. The light was good all day. At 300 yds P. B. Goldfinch and D. Small led the field with 46 each, while J. I. King and P. B. Goldfinch with 47 each were the leaders at 600 yards. P. B. Goldfinch won the scratch weekly trophy with the fine total of 93, two over club standard. G. Hunter secured the handicap weekly trophy with 91, using one point only of his handicap, a very good shoot on this young member's part. D. Small, who put on a good shoot, was a welcome visitor from the Tararna Club. An announcement ■ was made on the range to the effect that Mrs. Marshall, wife of the president, has presented a trophy to the club to be competed for by new members of the handicap class joining the club this season, and to be awarded to the new member making the highest score in 'the handicap aggregate, whicL, is run over the championship series commencing on 7th November. Several more new members have been enrolled, bringing the number of recruits this season up to 11. Ranges next Saturday will be 300 yds and 500 yds. The scores were: — 300 600 Hdcp. Ttl. P. E.
