'A one club medal competition was flayed on the Shandon links on Saturday afternoon. J. F. Taylor, using a midiron, returned the winning card, 03-18—75. The next best cards were: D. M. Boyd, 100-24—76; J. Sterton, 99-20—70; M. L. Stewart, 103-24—79; H. M. Frazer, 98-16— 79; It. Laing, 104-24-80.
j. S. Hunter, the holder of the senior championship title, and M. R. Bowring, played off the final over the week-end to decide this year's championship.. Bowring was right at the top of hia form, and on the morning round was 4 up, doing a hot 77. Hunter did an 84. In the afternoon round Hunter took 41 for the first nine and Bowring 42. At one stage Hunter had reduced Bowring's lead to 2 up. Both produced "birdie" figures at some holes. Bowring maintained' his lead with consistent play, and won 5 and 4. In the second round of the Andrew Trophy on handicap Melvin beat Runciman, 5 and 4; Thorne beat Taylor, 5 and 3; and Porteous beat Ardell, 2 and 1. In the first round of the Wilford Cup on handicap Hunter beat Desmond, 3 and 2; Couchman beat Lavelle, 2 up; and Stnbberfield beat Hawken, 1 up. In the second round Jeffery beat Couchman, 2 lip, and Stewart beat Osborne, 5 and 4. In the semi-final for the Captain's Trophy on handicap Turner beat Runciman, 7 and 5, and Laing beat C. T. Brown, 1 up. In the first round of the Vance Cup on handicap (match play), Ardell and M'lvor beat Joiner and Stewart, 3 and 1; Boyd and Jeffery beat Melvin and Turner, 3 and 1; Clapcott and Feast beat ■J. Mackay and Low, 3 and 2; Poole and Bishop beat Bowen and Lippett, 5 and 4.
